On the Valley Isle, Maui, behind the coastal dunes near Kahului Harbor, is our peaceful and protected community garden and farm.
On land that was once crossed by train cars bringing rocks to smash into gravel for road building. On land washed clean of commercial profit by a massive tsunami in 1946, and subsequently passed on through generations of neglect.
With love in our hearts for the spirit and health of the 'Aina, we committed to the conservation and stewardship of our growing neighborhood community space for solace, resilience, and native habitat restoration.
Starting with the removal of an average of 13 bags of accumulated rubbish a week, over the years, our weekly load has been reduced to 1 or 2 depending on the wind and societal effects.
The culture of the area has shifted from fear and stagnancy, towards hope and growth, and volunteer participation has begun to flourish along with the beauty and bio-diversity of the park.
Our goal is to provide a home for ongoing permaculture and regenerative agriculture practices, including food forestry, native plant restoration, vermiculture composting (worm bins), soil bioremediation, beekeeping, ipu gourd workshops, biodynamic gardening, meditations and classes, and more.
I look forward to collecting and sharing our stories of community growth here.
Mahalo nui loa!
